Carol Breen

I was born in Calgary and spent the first fifteen years of my life living in Canmore, Alberta. Our family moved to Calgary in 1958. In 1967, I graduated from the Alberta College of Art with a diploma in Textiles and Applied Arts. After graduation, I spent about two years working as a custom weaver for Douglas Motter & Associates. Later, I was accepted into the faculty at the Alberta College of Art where I taught textiles, design, drawing, colour and watercolour. Simultaneously, I undertook the completion of Diplomas from both The Toronto Conservatory and Mount Royal College Conservatory in Speech Arts and Drama. I was teaching art courses during the day and speech / drama students at night. In 1989, I migrated to Fort McMurray to live with my husband. Once settled in my new home, I discovered the Keyano College Visual and Performing Artís Centre and took advantage of the opportunity to enroll in a printmaking course offered by Rodney Konopaki. After completing that course, I was invited to teach watercolour and drawing as part of the centreís continuing education program. Presently, I am concentrating on my own painting while at the same time working as the curator at the Gallery at Frames & More. My paintings, textiles and prints can be found in many public and private collections.
