Michelle Boyd is a handspinner and weaver who lives in Olds, Alberta. With a background in art and design, she has been an active member of the fibre arts community in both Fort McMurray and Alberta for the past 35 years. She has achieved her Master Spinner certification and is currently an instructor for that program, as well instructing workshops in spinning and weaving at fibre arts events across North America. For the past two years, she has been working intensively with freestyle weaving techniques based upon the philosophies of SAORI weaving, including having spent a term as Artist in Residence at SAORI Salt Spring in February of 2017. Michelle’s current work explores the possibilities presented by both the technical aspects of handspinning and the freeform approach of SAORI weaving.
